Becky Canton

Senior Health & Wellbeing Practitioner

I've been a qualified youth worker for ten years and have worked for grassroots organisations and larger charities providing a range of support. I have experience of working in projects for refugee young people and young carers, I've taught RSE (relationship and sex education) in a variety of settings, have jointly run therapeutic groups for traumatised young people and managed universal youth club sessions. Throughout all of this I've worked one to one with young people to, providing them with a safe space to talk through any issues they face and support to take steps forward when they feel it's necessary.

In my role as Senior Health and Wellbeing Practitioner I'll be continuing to provide 1-1 support to young people, helping them find their voice and articulating their needs. I'll also be looking at how the Well Centre can provide group sessions; these will be opportunities for young people experiencing similar challenges to meet, get support and find ways to progress together as a community.

Lorraine Addai-Osei

Health & Wellbeing Practitioner

My name is Lorraine; I am a health and well-being practitioner here at the well centre. I have a degree in BSc psychology and counselling, my background consists of working in mental health hospitals thus including working on CAMHS wards, working with offenders in the prison service who were suffering with substance misuse and mental health issues. I have also gained experienced working in social care setting, a residential family assessment unit for vulnerable families.  I have a desire to impact and make positive changes in people’s lives.
I believe that all young people can achieve anything that they put their minds to pushing themselves to their fullest potential in order for the young person to achieve their end goal. I use the social prescribing method, to ensure that all of the young people that I work with needs are met in a holistic way enhancing their health and wellbeing.  I refer the young people that we work with to a range of local, non-clinical services which is of interest to them which enables the young person to improve their health and well-being.

Elliot Omari

Health & Wellbeing Practitioner

My name is Elliot and I work at The Well Centre as a health and wellbeing practitioner, I’m a psychology graduate with a passion for helping young people. My job is to offer support and help to young people that are experiencing a range of issues, from psychological to emotional problems.
Using psychology and cooperative communication I aim to explore challenging topics and addresses any concern a young person may be dealing with. Through the use of holistic methods, I aim to facilitate a young person’s growth through their own decisions in improving their health and wellbeing.
I have a background in young people’s mental health and wellness, I worked as support staff in a PRU and spent some time as a HCA in a mental health facility. These experiences have had a large impact on me and how I approach mental health, it has shown me how many young people feel neglected and not taken seriously. I want to change this and demonstrate that if given appropriate
attention and adequate support a young person can achieve a great deal.

Rebecca Russell

Mental Health & Wellbeing Practitioner

I am a Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner here at the Well Centre. I have a first class BSc Psychology and clinical experience within the NHS, the private sector and charities. Much of my background is working with people who have mental health needs, proving assessments and supporting their treatment. As part of a charity, I have worked to help provide education to young women on issues such as mental health, relationship abuse and body image with the aim of breaking the poverty cycle and supporting young people to rise against adversity.
In my role as a Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner at the Well Centre, I provide 1:1 support for young people who are experiencing difficulties such as anxiety, low mood and low self-esteem. I use a psychotherapy based approach and work collaboratively with the young person to explore ways of problem solving and challenging their negative thoughts, whilst providing a safe space to express themselves and talk about their difficulties. I believe youth work and early intervention is an important step to support young people address issues and to achieve their personal best outcomes.
